PLEASE HELP! Customer Auto-Number Generation

All,

We turned on Auto-Number Generation for customers and it is number customer like the following: "1234567891 Steve Stewart". We are not sure why the number is so large, but this was not the intended outcome. I have the following questions:

Can we stop this process? (Probably will be completed soon ha ha)
Can we roll this back?
If we can't roll it back, what would be a way that we could get rid of the numbers (there are 854512 customer records in the system)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
