Contact workflows firing on employee records

Looks like something changed last night. This morning our contact workflows are firing when accessing employee records (we have a block in place preventing certain roles from accessing employee's contact records and the block is firing when accessing the actual employee records). Anybody else? Just opened a case and am waiting for a response.
