Merged Customers show up in Saved Search

Here's an odd thing. I have a saved search that returns rows for customer records that have been merged away. I don't see how to restrict the search so these are not returned. Any ideas?

If I take the internal id from the search I enter it in a customer url I am redirected to the duplicate master but why do I see the duplicate in the first place. This was happening before 2018.2 so it must have been around for a bit but I've never seen it in another account.
