Creating Activity Search

I'm trying to create an activity search (event, task, call) scheduled in the past or future.  However, I need to filter it to show the latest activity date past or future. This search could be associated with Company and Opportunity. If there is more than one opportunity for a company, the latest activity should be displayed. Anyone successfully created such a search?
