Restrict access to certain forms

Does anyone know a way to restrict access to certain forms we use.  I understand I could make a form preferred, and disable the Custom Form field.  Unfortunately, I need to provide access to a few forms for certain roles, and then restrict a few others.  I would rather not have to use a client side SuiteScript because it would be easy to bypass, and it would make it slower.

Is this possible?
