Email CRMSDK Field Question

Can you use any sort of logic besides DEFAULT on CRMSDK fields in templates?

For example:

<IF NLFIRSTNAME = TOM>text for Tom<ELSE>text for the rest ...

I'd like to use one email template, but alter portions of the text slightly based on the Partner field.
