Task Numbering

edited Jan 8, 2020 3:42AM in SuiteCloud / Customization 5 comments

Part of our business is a private microwave cable distribution system and we work with a subcontractor who we have given a license to our NetSuite account.  When we are sending requests to the subcontractor we use 'cases' for service related calls (my cable is out, etc) and we use 'tasks' for surveys and new installation requests.

The cases automatically number and provide an easy way to track which case is which if we have multiple calls for one client.

The task has no numbering system that I can find. Does anyone know if there is a way to create a custom field and have it 'auto-number' for our tasks?  If not, other than using cases for everything, does anyone have any suggestions to help track 'tasks' easily?   We often have several things going on at one time for some larger clients and tracking the information back and forth with the tasks is becoming more cumbersome.

Howdy, Stranger!
