Customizing <nlitemlist>

When using the <nlitemlist> tag, netsuite auto-populates this area with the list of item (and categories) designated. I am having a problem finding a way to get the categories to appear beneath/after the item list.  It seems that the  code used by the <nlitemlist> tag is set to view categories first then items.
Is this correct?
And if so is there a way to correct this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
