Lookup Table/Array?

I am trying to populate a custom field based on another field on the same record...

For example, I have a field called 'Project Manager'.

I would like to have this field automatically populated depending on the vendor field on the same item record...

This is because each item record we have is given a project manager, and I would like it to be based on the selected vendor for the item.  (Project manager's are decided by vendor).

Any ideas about the best way to go about doing this?
