Can you generate a Barcode Image on Item Receipt?

I know that it's wishful thinking, but....
Given that we can't print item receipts as .pdfs , would it be possible to generate a barcode of the Item Receipt that appears on the item receipt transaction after creating it?

We would love to be able to scan item receipts.

Any help is appreciated,
