Client Workflow Date/Time

I am trying to set a date/time field from a client side workflow. Does anyone know how to get the current date/time client side and format it into a NS Datetime field. I have tried all manner of SYSDATE, {today}. {today} and none will return a value. Is there a supported/documented way to do this?
