Amount of sublist records showing

Is it possible to increase the normal 25 limit on the number of records showing in a sublist before you have to select the next batch of 25?  I tried updating the general preference LISTSEGMENTSIZE but that didn't seem to do it.  Any way to increase the number of records showing?
