After upgrade Sort not working

Since yesterday custom sort function is not working.
var arr = a_item_Array.sort(function(a, b){ // a_item_array is 2D array with multiple columns with values, 2nd column is to be sorted.
return a[1] > b[1];
});
Before upgrade this code used to work perfectly, now its not sorting. Any other possible solutions for sorting.
