Remove External ID value

Just want to be 100% sure, but I believe once you've set an External ID on a record ... you cannot set it back to null (although, you can CHANGE the value).  Is this correct?

The only other way I see blanking out an externalid is with Suitetalks null list (which I've not tried yet)
