Daily Email Notifications Not Happening

Under the announcement page, it was noted that NS is looking into this functionality (see quote from below).  Given that this was a key strength of the old user forum, where do we stand in making this happen? Thanks...

Daily E-mail Notifications
We are currently investigating an add-on module that will allow you to subscribe to the user group as a whole, which can then deliver optional daily e-mail updates. Until then, here are some suggestions for staying in touch with new posts.......
