Advanced Inventory Management

We have just turned on this function and immediately updated the page "Set up inventory management".
We then tried to enter some parameters in one item record such as "lead time", Reorder-point "auto-calculate" set on YES,...and saved the item. The fields "reorder point" and "preferred stock" remain blank. We would expect them to fill automatically from our historical sales data.

Are we doing anything wrong? Has anyone experienced this problem?
