Order Confirmation Email - Reverting to Previous Layout

With Version 11.0.4, all order confirmation email will now address customers by full name. Previously, only the customer’s first name was used.

What code would I use to customize the email and have it revert back to the customer's first name?  I tried a couple of tags and attributes, but I don't know the correct syntax to use.
