Do sandboxes include *all* customizations?

I'm wondering what others have been told about sandboxes (actually, I hijacked another thread and want to move the topic to a legit thread ).

Specifically, I was told by my rep that a sandbox is a copy of all production data and customizations, *except* custom records, scripts and portlets. What have others heard?
