Invioice date

We have recently been moved to v2007 - Canadian version.  When we invoice a sales order that was entered in NS on July 25 the invoice date sets itself at July 25 although the invoice date is today - September 17?

I would like to know if there is any reason why the date of the invoice is not automatically the date that the invoice is created?

Any input is appreciated.
