payment reciepts e-mail

For some reason in the 08.1 version I can no longer e-mail receipts to to customers the way I used to.

if I use the messages tab, select e-mail, I no longer have the option to attach the transaction to the e-mail. It only allows me to select templates- There's no option anymore to add in-line below, ad in-line above, pdf etc.

The yellow button works of course , if there is a contact e-mail for the company, but this is usually not the case with our way of keeping data, because often times the purchaser interested in the receipt changes at the company on different orders, so, we NEED to sent it to a contact. How am I supposed to do this now that the feature of attaching it to an e-mail is MIA?
