Removing entries from Dynamic Groups not Possible

Marketing are tearing their hair out becase when they get a list of recipients for a marketing Campaign based on a Saved Search, they can no longer remove unwanted entries.  This is OK for Groups based on Saved Searches that were created before Rls 2008.1 but not for Groups created in the new release.

Is there any way around this does anybody know?  The Search criteria are correct so the ability to remove unwanted entries is critical.
