New rule on vendors section of lot items R.2009.2

after the upgrade this weekend of R.2009.2 all our lot items are forced to have a vendor and a purchase prices. prior release was not like that and cannot find a way not to make this mandatory when editing our products.

is this a correction of a prior bug or its a new default for some reason I don't understand?
