Drop ship orders showing up in order screen

We have a sales order for an item.
The item is back ordered by the quantity of the sales order.
The sales order is then drop shipped.
The item still shows back ordered even though the item has been drop shipped.

We now have items which are not needed because the transaction was already drop shipped.
