Lot Number Selection Behaviour Changed

edited Dec 13, 2019 11:40PM in General 7 comments

Anyone else in the same boat?

We sell food, so we are heavily reliant on lot numbered inventory items and expiry dates.

As for most food sellers, there is a need to sell the lot with the earliest expiry date first (stock rotation).

We have always had a script to take the heavy work out of selecting these lots.  When an order is created, the script cycles through the lots of an item and chooses the one with the earliest expiry date.  Unfortunately, Netsuite never made the 'quantity available' field of the lot available to scripting, so we were forced to select a lot without any regard for whether it was actually available ('quantity on hand' is available for lots, but not much use if you start selecting lots that are on hand, but not available).  This caused occasional problems when fulfilling orders
