Can't add a gift certificate item to an invoice

Our account was upgraded on 4/9-4/10.  Since the upgrade we are unable to invoice for gift certificates.  The items cannot be added to invoices.  A window pops up with a "message from website" that is:

Stack overflow at line: 1

We can click ok to close the pop-up but clicking on the add button for the line item doesn't do anything.  We have to cancel invoice creation because the line item can't be cancelled either.

Does anyone know if there are new settings for gift certificates in the 2011.1 release that would cause this?  What is a stack overflow?
