info boxes on mouse hover: so frustrating

I'm wondering if anyone else is as annoyed by this new "feature" that was introduced in the most recent update.

Many records, when viewed in list, now pop up a miniature information box when you hover over them.  That is not something I ever need, and I would like to turn it off.

The problem it causes, which is so frustrating, is that I often want to click on several records in succession, to open them in new tabs.  When I go to click them, the system thinks I'm hovering, and tries to open the info box.  Because the system is so busy trying to open it's little info box, it doesn't register my mouse click!
