Date format to show time also

Is there  a way to change the date format so that it shows the time also. We need this feature to see the time web orders are placed as we give same day shipping for orders received before 3 pm. Since it is showing the date only in the sales order we are unable to find the time. The only way now is to look at the time we got email confirmation of the order.
