Linking PO's and SO's

A benefit of using the "drop ship" and "special order" feature on sales orders is that Netsuite links the PO to the SO allowing you to easily determine the sale to which any purchase is tied.

Is there a way to create this link when no using "drop ship" or "special order" functionality, for example, when we sell a kit or when we order an item for a sale but do not explicitly sell it to the customer, in other words, we buy it to complete the job but do not sell it.

Such a link would save us tons of time.
