Receive Serialized Items w/o Recording Serial #

Is there a way to have a serialized item, but receive stock of that item in bulk (without recording the serial number)? We need to record the item serial number only downstream, when we consume the item in an assembly. At that stage we scan the item serial number.

We want to avoid requiring a receiving clerk to record serial numbers of incoming stock.
