Problem with an item in a Partially Fulfilled Order

Hello-

Need some help please.

Last week, a customer placed an order, and we had all but one item, which was coming in this week. Last week, we shipped all but that back-ordered item, and the order had a Partially Fulfilled status.

Today, we received the remaining item in, but the customer had also placed an additional order, and so I wanted to remove that item from the previous order, and place it on the new order.  Payment for that one item had not yet been received, and the customer wanted to pay for everything in just one payment.

However, I was not able to remove the item from the first order.
