is there a way to have description items not show on packing lists?

We would like to be able to add description to sales orders to send back to customers with the confirmation (like, say:  price increase in effect.....) but we don't want them to print on the packing slip in case it is a drop ship order.  Does anyone have any ideas?  Thanks,
