Can the Quote ship date default to blank?

Anyone know how to make the ship date field on a newly created Quote default to blank?  (without a script?)

Right now it defaults to the date the quote is created. This was fixed on sales orders by setting "Automating the Ship Date" to blank (setup>accounting>shipping). I want the Quotes to behave the same way.

P.S. We only use the UI, not the built-in website.
