Rate, amount, and total on shipping notification

Does anybody know of a way to remove $ amounts from the shipping notification?  Basically we only want to inform the customer of what shipped, but not the dollar value.  Like others have posted, the dollars are not always correct due to shipping charges and discounts not always represented as it was charged on the sales order, leading customers to getting confused.  I would rather just not have the sales amount information at all.
