Is anyone putting barcode into Item code/Vendor Code?

I am evaluating the barcode feature in Advance Inventory Module to see if it is worthwhile to get that. Having read throug several posting regarding barcoding, I found out some things which I am assuming the additional module will do, however it might not be.

Could I confirm this with those who is already using the advanced module?

1. Item barcode to display beside each item in Sales order (So admin can scan in an item barcode to process an order from a faxed order form)
2. Item barcode to display beside each item in packing slip (so warehouse can scan and check off the item during fulfilment)
