How to charge for an item before it ships?

Our company is releasing a new product sometime next spring. We'd like to allow people to pre-order the product, and we'd like to charge them as soon as they place their order. We normally charge someone only after an item ships.

Do you have any suggestions on how to charge a customer before we ship their order?
