Display # of Shipping Box's on PDF Print Outs

Hello - can anyone advise if they have issues displaying # of shipping boxes on PDF print outs? Fields are available, but they don't want to print on PDF forms. I'm able to create a custom field and summarize on the transaction form, but cant display the same field on PDF print outs.
