Descriptions items: can they be included in the fulfillment/packing slip?

I've searched for a setup value for this thinking it might be something that can be turned on and off, can't find it. Anyone know how?

Update: additional info.  We recently began using the advanced PDF templates for printing and this is a partial source of the problem.  The issue is confusing because even in the past Description items are not copied over to the Item Fulfillment record.  But somehow they did print on the packing slip.  I guess I need to understand why this worked in the past with the standard templates.
