Priority Based Commitment

Has anyone used/implemented the priority based commitment functionality in NS where customers are assigned a priority which is then passed to Sales Orders and used to assign inventory commitment? I have been trying to understand the functionality but have not been able to get it to work in my test accounts. I have also not been able to find the Perform Item Commitment After Transaction Entry checkbox referenced in the help section in NS. Any guidance/feedback would be appreciated
