Fire FieldChanged Function when clicking the Calculate button for shipping

I am needing to fire the field changed function on the item fulfillment on the shippingcost field anytime that value is updated. We need to copy this value into another field on the form called "shipping cost (custom)". This field is displayed on our packing slips. I've tried everything I know to get this to work, but to no avail, I get no results after pressing the calculate button.
