Trying to understand Per Item Shipping Cost

We have an item that we want to charge a specific shipping amount when it is ordered. The shipping cost for the item should be in addition to the shipping costs for the entire order.

From what I have read in SuiteAnswers, I need to enter the Shipping Cost for the item on the Item Record. I also have to create a Shipping Item with a By Item shipping amount, which has to be selected by the customer during checkout.


1) We cannot expect customers to choose a Shipping method if a specific item is in their cart.

2) The By Item Shipping Method is adding the By Item amount for every item in the cart.
