Integrated Shipping - Ref#1 and Ref#2 Defaults

I just turned on Integrated shipping on our account but I am wondering if anyone has found a way to automatically default the Shipping label Ref #1 and Ref #2 field to match existing fields from the Sales order and the Item fulfillment. I tried to create a workflow to automatically make the Ref #1 the PO# from the Sales Order and Ref#2 the Item Fulfillment number but they aren't listed as fields I can manipulate in the workflow. Is there maybe another way to accomplish this?
