Need total units packed and total amount

I am trying to make a search or something to help our shipping department when we have big orders for shipping. We need to have the total amount packed and that total $ amount of units before we can mark them shipped for UPS. When we have big orders it is time consuming for the shipping guys to verify the total amount of units in the shipments and the total amount of these units. We usually have backorders so we can't go off the total units and amount on the sales order. Any suggestions would be very helpful.
