Two free shipping promotions that sharing one code - possible?

Scenario.

Item A qualifies for free shipping using promotion code XYZ.  There are no stipulations in that promotion other than item A is the item being ordered. If you have a second item in the cart (like item , only item A gets free shipping.

We want a new 2nd promotion that also uses XYZ for the code.  That new promotion says item B ships free if it is being ordered with item A.

Is that possible? ...or is it one promotion per code ...and all coupon codes must be unique?
