Default Shipping Method incorrect

Under Settings>Shipping we have UPS Ground selected as the default shipping method.  However, all of a sudden, when you create a new customer using the UI it defaults them to UPS 2nd Day Air AM Delivery.  Any ideas as to why?  Anyone else experience this?
