Cart Abandonment

Has anyone figured out a way to determine what items were in the shopping cart when it is abandoned at checkout?  I have been able to create a report listing the items in a cart that is abandoned prior to checkout by linking the item, web sales order and shopping activity tables, but I can't figure out how to link the cart abandonment table to the item table.
