Matrix items in reports... enhancements needed

We have a top seller report...

Our reports looks something like this...

Item........................Number of Units Sold
-----------------------------------------------------------
Widget ABC...................................300
Widget 123 [+]............................110
_____widget 123 in Brass..............100
_____widget 123 in Steel...............10
Widget XYZ...................................25

NOTE: In sample above ... Widget 123 is a matrix item and the first and last items are non-matrix items.

We need our reports to look like this....

Item........................Number of Units Sold
-----------------------------------------------------------
Widget ABC.................................300
Widget 123 in Brass....................100
Widget XYZ..................................25
Widget 123 in Steel.....................10

The difference is that it DROPS the parent items and drops the "matrix item groupings" and just displays the child items on single lines just like non-matrix items.  It also makes the sorting more accurate and makes it
