Extract Day of the Week (DOW) from Date Created

I want to extract the day of the week (dow) from the date created field in NS.  Is that possible? This assumes dow can be extracted in NS using 0 - 6; Sunday being 0.

Context:
I am trying to create a saved search that shows the total number (sum) of lead records created each day of the week.  So from the date created, I want to extract the dow and then sum that column.

I am trying something like this with no luck using the result column 'Formula (Text).  This assumes days or the week are 0 - 6, Sunday being 0.

decode(extract(dow from {datecreated}),0,1,0)  --- for Sunday
