Income state total does not match sale by sale rep summary

Run two reports, the standard 'income statement' and get a sales figure. Run the report for 'sales by sales rep summary' and get a sales figure about $20,000 less, when comparing.  Dates are the same, column totals are the same. 
Any ideas on how to make this two reports match? or why are they different comparing the same numbers?
