Period Filter in Saved Search

I created a Saved Search which includes a filter in the footer allowing the user to select the period for which he/she wants to run the report.  However, I can only seem to get the relative period options (e.g. this period, last period, first quarter of this fiscal year, etc.) to show as options and not the actual accounting periods (e.g. Jan 2011, Feb 2011, March 2011, etc.).  This makes it very difficult for the users to get the correct period as they have to figure out what relative period it is they want and in many cases they can't
