Where is serial number

Hi

I am using serial numbers in assemblies.  This means the components have serial numbers

I move the assemblies from location to location and between bins

I would like to know if there is a way to determine where the component serial numbers are at any one time.

so if I have an assembly as follows:

Assembly 1         Serial

Component1       1234
Component2       3456
Component3       5689


I then move the Assembly 1 to location Melbourne

Can I write a search where I enter the serial number 5689 and it retuns a result of Melbourne
